The Conditional Licensure Certificate for Secondary Teaching program of 12 credits is designed to provide courses that address the knowledge and skills needed for secondary teachers. The certificate provides candidates an opportunity to meet conditional licensure requirements so that they are eligible for hire in Nevada.
Certificate candidates are individuals who are working towards a career in middle- or high-school education with a focus area of teaching in middle or high schools. These individuals will be admitted to the Conditional Licensure Certificate for Secondary Teaching program and have elected not to enroll in the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction programs. After the completion of 9 credits, candidates will be eligible to obtain a conditional license (valid for 3 years) from the Nevada Department of Education and are eligible to be hired as a teacher of record in secondary schools in Nevada. After completing 3 additional credits, candidates will be eligible for the certificate.
